As the agreement signed the in 2015 annual meeting in Peru, the IMF along with World Bank selected and agreed to stage its 2018 Conference on the entrancing island of Bali, Indonesia. This international event will take place at Nusa Dua on 8-14 October 2018. This is an annual conference meeting to discuss the work on global financial and economic issues, including global economic outlook, poverty eradication, and aid effectiveness. Every year, the IMF and World Bank hold their annual meetings for two consecutive years in the USA and the third year in a member country.

This international event is expected to expected to be attended by between 15,000 to 18,000 delegates. But considering the magnetic pull of Bali, Indonesia is preparing to receive around 20,000 delegates, comprising Central Bank Governors from member countries, Finance Ministers, business executives, civil society representatives, the world media, and academics from around the world.

The meeting’s main agenda topic of discussion will be centered around global economic issues. This will include the International Monetary System (IMS), digital economy, the role of the private sector in infrastructure finance, Islamic economic and financial aspects, and issues related to the fiscal sector, like urbanization, digital economy, human capital, disaster risk management, climate change, and infrastructure financing.

The conference is expected to be a strategic momentum for discussion of issues faced by various countries in the Asian region, especially Indonesia. This is an opportunity to show Indonesia’s reformed, resilient and progressive economy. Furthermore, the discussion of the main issues is expected to produce significant steps to improve the resilience of the Indonesian economy.
